The Maxwell Wheel Experiment Set converts mechanical energy into potential energy and vice versa. It investigates the conservation of mechanical energy and momentum.

The wheel rolls using a rope wrapped around its axle, then converts the potential energy into kinetic energy and rolls back down. At the bottom, the kinetic energy is converted into potential energy and the wheel rolls back up. In an ideal world, this would continue forever, but eventually friction occurs and the wheel stops. The Maxwell Wheel comes with a wooden stand and metal rods. There is a mechanism at the top to adjust the balance of the rope.
